Evaluating the Top Sunless Tanning Products

Unless you think wrinkled, leathery skin with brown spots is sexy you should limit your exposure to the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. In addition to adversely affecting the appearance of your skin, overexposure to the sun can result in skin cancer. Despite the widespread message that people should limit the amount of time they spend in the sun, many people still continue to do so. One of the main reasons people neglect to adhere to the warnings of the sun has to do with wanting to obtain a tan. There are alternative methods for obtaining a tan that do not cause the damaging effects of the sun. There are some advantages and disadvantages of all the methods, so it is best to evaluate the methods that are available and select the one that best fits your needs.

The most popular sunless tanning products on the market that are applied directly to the skin are lotions. Their popularity is associated with their convenience and cost. You can apply sunless tanning lotions just about anywhere. With some sunless tanning products you have to apply the product overnight and rinse it off in the morning. Many sunless tanning lotions are formulated with a high SPF (Sun Protection Factor) so that you can apply it and then proceed with your normal daily activities. One of the main downsides of lotions is that you may not obtain an even tan. Although you may apply the lotion to your entire body, there may be areas that you miss or that may not have absorbed into your skin.

The problem of tan evenness does not exist with airbrush tanning. With this method you can obtain the most coverage of any other sunless tanning product that you apply to your skin. The coverage that you obtain from airbrush tanning is immediate because the tanning solution is what gives you the tan. This is in direct contrast to other methods of sunless tanning that react with the natural chemistry of your skin. The product is available in handheld systems that you apply yourself, or you can visit a salon that provides tan spray booths. The only disadvantage of using airbrush-tanning products is that you will undoubtedly have to apply the product often since the product will eventually fade.

For some people, applying sunless tanning products can cause excessive dry skin. You can purchase a moisturizer separately or purchase a sunless tanning kit. In addition to a sunless tanning product (lotion, spray, or gel), sunless tanning kits generally contain a product for exfoliating the skin before applying the tanning product, and a moisturizer that you apply after applying the product. While these kits are great for providing a complete tanning solution, they can be expensive.

Regardless of the sunless tanning method you choose, you should still use caution when you plan to spend a significant amount of time in the sun. The sunless tanning methods listed here are only a small representative of the products available on the market. You can find additional information about other sunless tanning products, including those that are highly controversial (such as sunless tanning pills) by visiting sunless-tanning-product.net. This website also includes references to sunless tanning products that are available on the market.

Atherosclerosis, Chelation and Chelating Agents

In our everyday life, our body is exposed to various toxins almost all the time. We are facing toxin attacks in the food, in the water we drink even in the air we breath. Heavy metal toxins like Mercury, Lead and Cadmium gets deposited and builds up plaque in arteries and blood vessels and narrows the passage for blood flow (medically termed as Atherosclerosis). This in turn leads to all sorts of problems and even heart attacks and might ultimately require surgery to bypass the blocked arteries.

Chelation (pronounced key-LAY-shun) Therapy is the process in which chemicals bond with minerals and toxic metals and remove them from the body. The word Chelation has been derived from the Greek word “chele”, meaning to “claw”.

The doctors have used chelation therapy for a long time now and the most important chelating agents used by them is EDTA (Ethylene Diamine tetra acetic acid). This is a synthetic amino acid that is highly effective in binding with the harmful metals and releasing them out of the body through the urine.

Chelation Therapy is definitely the most effective alternative to surgery for Atherosclerotic vascular disease. This therapy when applied properly has considerable effect on patients and thousands of patients have been cured without any need for bypass surgery or angioplasty.

There are two types of Chelation, classified mainly based on the way they are applied; Intravenous Chelation, where the chelating agent is injected through the veins and Oral Chelation, where the patient takes the chelating agent through his mouth just as any other medicine. Intravenous chelation is comparatively costly and would necessarily require a doctor to assist the patient, however, oral chelation is one of the easiest processes and is comparatively cheap.

Any oral chelating agent would contain a synthetic amino acid called EDTA along with the other components like Royal Jelly, honeybee pollen, unprocessed honey, natural vitamin C and B12. EDTA is particularly effective in removing heavy metals like Mercury from our circulatory system.

An Oral Chelating agent becomes more effective due to the presence of components like Royal Jelly and honey. Our body perceives it as food and it gets absorbed in the system very fast where as the EDTA in the chelating agent binds with the toxic metals and removes them out of the body.

Oral Chelating agents like PCA-Rx (sold at http://www.awakennutrition.com ) are highly effective and helps you to prevent plaques and narrowing of blood vessels by bonding with the toxic metals and removing them out of the body.

This would help you to remove toxic metals from your blood flow while gaining and maintaining you heart’s health. When thousand s of patients today are adopting this chelation therapy to fight against atherosclerosis and maintain a healthy heart, why should you be left out?

Saunas Then And Now

The origin of the sauna is lost in the mists of time, but its history goes back over 1,000 years. The nomadic peoples of Finland had a primitive type of sauna around the first millennium that was made by building a fire inside a tent-like structure. When the heat had built up and the fire was out, people would enter the sauna to bathe. This was very similar to the American Indian sweat lodge.

This type of sauna evolved into a smoke sauna -- a small building with a stone fireplace inside with a hole in the roof for the smoke to escape. The smoke sauna was commonly used until the 1920s, when it started to be replaced by the modern form of sauna. The smoke sauna, however, has enjoyed a recent revival in Finland. Many people consider it to be the finest type of sauna. The modern introduced a new type of stove which allowed the rocks to be heated without being placed directly over the fire flames. This allowed the fire to burn while the sauna was being used. The earliest stoves of this type used wood as a fuel, but later models used electricity.

Types of Saunas

Saunas can be built in many shapes and styles. They can be separate buildings or they can be installed in a house or apartment. Traditional saunas use separate wooden structures.

The worldwide popularity of saunas has spurred innovative new designs. One of the most unusual is the portable sauna; a folding sauna that can be used almost anywhere. The folding sauna is just big enough for 1 person to sit in. There is a hole for your head and slits for your hands if you wish to read or talk on the phone while you are enjoying this sauna. Another unusual design is the barrel sauna. This is a small cabin constructed using barrel-making techniques, which holds 6 to 8 people. Barrel saunas can be installed either inside or outside the home.

Infrared saunas have been used since the 1960s. The heating source here is an infrared heater. Unlike traditional heaters that heat the air in the sauna, infrared heaters heat objects and people, but not the air. Since infrared offers deeper tissue penetration, its proponents believe infrared saunas have superior health benefits.

Sauna Construction

Almost every type of sauna is made of wood. The walls, ceilings, floors and benches are all made from a wood such as cedar or hemlock. The only non-wood materials are the stove and the rocks that are heated on the stove.

The sauna creates a dry heat--usually between 150 degrees and 200 degrees F. From time to time, water can be thrown on the rocks. This creates a cloud of steam, which has the effect of immediately raising the temperature. The sauna can be heated with an electric or wood stove. Wood stoves are traditional in the countryside, but most urban saunas use an electric heater. Whatever the type or construction, you owe it to yourself to treat yourself to a sauna. It may just become your favorite mode of relaxation.

Facts About LASIK Eye Surgery

The term LASIK stands for Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileuses. LASIK eye surgery is a medical procedure performed on a patient who has eye problems. These eye problems can be any of the following: being farsighted or nearsighted, and astigmatism. Furthermore, LASIK  eye surgery is performed so that a person with any of the aforementioned eye problems would not have to wear eyeglasses or contact lenses.

Nowadays, LASIK eye surgery is one of the most common medical procedures that an eye doctor performs on a patient. Once a  patient decides to undergo this kind of surgery, the shape of the cornea will be permanently changed. This is because a rounded “flap” is created on the cornea. Afterwards, with the use of laser or an instrument called the ‘microkeratome’, there is a part of the eye which will be vaporized to correct the eye problem.

LASIK eye surgery has become quite popular in the medical circle because of its painless-free operation. One more advantage that it has over other medical procedures to correct an imperfect vision is: the results are instantaneous. Right after the operation, you just need to let a day or two pass and you will see a definite improvement with your vision.

However, there are some disadvantages to this type of medical procedure. First, the rates can be quite steep so you better check with your eye doctor or ophthalmologist if you plan to undergo such a surgery. Second, just like any other medical operation, there are complications that the patient may suffer in the aftermath of the operation. Third, some job types will not allow an employee to undergo any form of eye surgery.

If you decide to go for LASIK eye surgery, you need to do your part and research so that you will know everything about the procedure. Also, have a thorough talk with your doctor so  that you would know what to do before the operation. Finally, you can ask about the results and improvements with your vision problem right after your LASIK eye surgery.
